YOUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Virtual Regatta's VSR (Virtual Sailing Rank) is designed to be dynamic and competitive,
reflecting the actual performance of all participants. Your position in the ranking is
based on the points you earn in the races, which are classified into 4 categories
according to their difficulty and prestige.
For each race, the winner is awarded a maximum number of points (up to 15,000 points
for races such as the Vendée Globe). The other participants receive points according to
their ranking, calculated using a specific formula: VSR Points = Max / (Rank^VSR
Coefficient).
Only your 20 best results are taken into account in the ranking, broken down as follows:
1 race in Hors Catégorie
3 races in the VSR 1 category
6 races in the VSR 2 category
10 races in the VSR 3 category
These points are calculated over a 24-month period, with 100% of the points acquired
over the last 12 months and 50% of the points for the previous 12 months. If a more
recent race improves your score, it automatically replaces a previous, less successful
result.
Your current position is always visible under your player name, and you can click on it to
view the full ranking and see how you stack up against the other browsers.

eSailing is a sailing simulation that lets you learn the basics of navigation, meteorology and even geography. On Virtual Regatta, you can play for fun, learn about sailing concepts, or take part in intense competitions against a global community of eSailors, the largest in the world.
Virtual Regatta is in partnership with some of the biggest names in sailing, both nationally and internationally. We are the official game of the biggest sailing races, such as the Vendée Globe, the Route du Rhum and the Transat Jacques Vabre. These races are faithfully reproduced in the game, offering a realistic and immersive experience. As well as replicating real races, Virtual Regatta also features its own competitions and rankings, allowing you to progress and measure your skills against the best.

To improve your performance on Virtual Regatta, experience is your best ally. It's essential to understand the mechanics of navigation and to adapt your strategies according to the weather conditions. Train regularly to hone your manoeuvring skills, follow the advice of experienced skippers and take part in different categories of racing to diversify your skills. Real-time weather is a key element of the sailing simulation in Virtual Regatta. The game uses official weather data to reflect real sailing conditions as closely as possible. These forecasts, provided by sources such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), are updated four times a day to ensure maximum accuracy.
The weather forecasts cover a 7-day period, but their reliability decreases the further out in time you go. The data is interpolated between updates, providing a smooth transition of wind conditions on the map. Players need to check the game interface regularly to stay up to date and adjust their strategy as conditions change.
